If you own an RV (also known as a motorhome), one of the things you should take into account is the fiber of your motorhome upholstery. After all, there will be a lot of sitting and resting done on the furniture. You not only want to think about comfort and aesthetics, but cleaning and upkeep as well. Choosing Your Upholstery Fabric Picking out fabric, whether for buying new furniture or for reupholstering existing RV furniture, is crucial. Key points to take into consideration include your lifestyle, durability, how well it can resist wear and tear, as well as maintenance. There are two categories when it comes to fiber: natural or man-made. Natural fibers fall under three main types: animal/protein, cellulose, or plant-based. Anything other than that will instantly qualify as something man-made or synthetic. ● Cotton This is one of the most popular plant-based fibers, used for a wide range of items from clothes to beddings and, yes, upholstery. It's versatile and strong, but doesn't do well with stretching and wrinkling. However, when it comes to dyes and finishes, cotton receives them well. When cotton is blended with other fibers, it becomes more convenient than plain cotton. Despite the commonality, premium-grade cotton can actually match silk in terms of quality and feel. On the other end of the spectrum, shorter fiber cotton lengths can be dull. ● Nylon Introduced in 1939 by DuPont, nylon is the generic name for chemically related fibers grouped together. It's highly durable and can resist insects, wrinkling, mildew, and even abrasion. However, it doesn't do very well against sunlight. Nylon is typically found in knits, woven fabrics, and velvets. ● Polyester and Microfiber DuPont introduced polyester as well, in the 1950s. Highly durable and quite strong, it resists abrasion well alongside insects, mildew, and sunlight. It's part of the blend used to create microfiber, which has been gaining popularity. The appearance of polyester fabrics can go from a dull sheen to a bright one, while the feel ranges from soft to quite crisp. Traditional polyester can soil easily, but microfiber resists that quite well. Blended with other fibers like cotton, polyester does quite well. Outdoor fabrics benefit from having polyester since it allows for stains to be spotted and spot-treated quickly. ● Silk Taken from silkworms, this is one of the most known symbols of sophistication and upscale living. There are two key types: spun silk, which is more textured, and reeled silk, which is more shiny and smooth. Silk can last for a long time when it's exposed to sunlight, barring mildew. Take note that because of the high price tag associated with silk, it is not easily seen in just any fabric. Upholstery is an important part of furniture, but especially so for RVs. There are plenty of fabric options on the market; in order to pick one that's either natural or man-made, don't forget to consider your lifestyle. A lot of time will be spent sleeping and resting in the motorhome so having the right fabric is ideal. Aside from look and feel, consider durability and maintenance. There comes a time in every piece of furniture’s life that it begins to look worn out. With all the years you’ve spent with it, it is natural that your furniture no longer looks the way it was when you first purchased your RV. And while your RV furniture has indeed seen better days, you don’t always have to replace it. When furniture begins to look shabby after years of use, people tend to chuck ‘em out and replace them with new ones. However, new isn’t always better. And here’s why.
If your RV furniture is a bit worn out but still functional, it makes much more sense to simply get it reupholstered instead of buying new ones. It would be a waste to throw away perfectly usable furniture. Plus, throwing it away will only add to the growing trash mountains in the landfills. It’s also challenging to find new furniture for an RV. If you’re going to buy new furniture, you have to consider the dimensions and shapes this new furniture has to fit into. And even if you do find pieces that fit into these spaces, it will be a nightmare to make these pieces match for a cohesive look.
New furniture is expensive. Perhaps if it’s just one piece of furniture, you’ll be fine. But if you’re going to swap out all the furniture in your RV, the costs will add up. This is why many people prefer to reupholster their furniture instead. This way, they can save money and use it to buy other things for their RV.
It is perfectly natural for humans to form sentimental attachments to furniture. These objects often hold precious memories from our past that we like to revisit from time to time. Perhaps you inherited the RV from your late father and feel it is wrong to get rid of his furniture. Or maybe you have fond memories of your young children sleeping on the couch back when you used to take family trips across the country. This sentimental value can often make it hard for people to let go of these things because they feel that they’re letting go of these memories, too, if they do. But the good thing about reupholstering is that you don’t have to say goodbye to these sentimental pieces. Instead, you can freshen them up and give them a new look while still preserving the memories. What You Need to Know About Reupholstering
Before attempting to reupholster your RV furniture, you need to know what type of frame you’ll be working on. If you have wood furniture, it will be easier since you can simply staple the RV upholstery to the wooden frame. But metal RV furniture requires more work. So, you might want to get a professional to do it instead. You also have to consider the state of your furniture. Worn-out RV upholstery is one thing, but the furniture’s structure is another factor. If the furniture is no longer structurally sound, you’ll either have to repair it or replace it entirely. After all, reupholstering won’t be able to fix broken furniture. Final Thoughts In many cases, it’s better to reupholster old and worn-out RV furniture instead of buying new ones. It’s more practical and cost-effective. It also allows you to preserve sentimental pieces by giving them a new look. But if your furniture’s structure is beyond repair, that’s when buying new furniture becomes the better option. Motorhomes offer the perfect summer experience—as a home on wheels, it gives travelers the freedom to go anywhere they wish without worrying about accommodation. As long as you travel with a motorhome, you can even attempt to explore the center of the Earth! Although most people only take the RV out of the garage when they plan to go on a long adventure, some prefer to stay in a motorhome full-time. An RV may be significantly smaller than an ordinary home that’s permanently planted into the ground, but living the RV lifestyle offers a happy homelife just like any other house! The Best thing About Full-Time RV Living Living in a motorhome offers an experience like no other. Unlike traditional houses, RV life allows you an unimaginable amount of freedom. Moving neighborhoods has never been easier—if you aren’t ready to settle down or are a wanderlust who loves to explore and wander, the motorhome is the best place to live in. Moreover, maintaining an RV is much simpler and less of a burden than owning a typical residential property. Since you aren’t obligated to pay for the mortgage, energy bills, and home insurance, you’ll be able to save much more money every month. To people looking for more unrestrained and more affordable living, the motorhome is the best choice to make! The Concern for Comfort Although there are many advantages to living in a motorhome, RV life isn’t perfect; you’re bound to encounter a few challenges here and there. If there’s one thing that can impact your living situation the most, it’s your current furniture. Living in a much smaller space means you’ll have to make a few compromises, comfort and aesthetics aren’t one of them! Like any home, your RV must also be comfortable living in while also pleasing to the eyes. If you haven’t been satisfied with the comfort and style of your living space, then it’s time to invest in residential RV upholstering services! Before You Reupholster Whether your seat cushions show wear and tear or just aren’t to your taste, you can replace them pretty easily. But, before you call for RV reupholstering near you, make sure to consider the following factors below to ensure that you’ll be happy in the end. Budget Making changes to any part of your motorhome’s interior will cost money; you must ensure that this home update won’t cause a significant dent in your savings. Reupholstering offers a cheaper alternative to update your furniture without costing as much as purchasing new furniture. Expertise Reupholstering is a fairly straightforward process, so many recommend that you just attempt to do everything yourself. However, if you don’t consider yourself crafty or this responsibility feels like a big task you can’t trust yourself with, it’s best to leave the reupholstering to the experts. You will have to pay a bit more for labor costs, but investing in residential RV upholstering services will guarantee that you’ll end up with cushions that you’re happy with. Fabric A reupholstering professional will probably offer you fabric options for your cushions and explain each one, but it helps to do your research beforehand. To decide on the suitable fabric, consider the type of lifestyle you lead. If you have a pet or child with you, you’ll want to go for durable outdoor fabric. On the other hand, if you want something that’s easy to clean but is also durable, midweight denim is a good choice. Whichever fabric you go for, make sure that they’re removable so that you can take them off and wash them. Conclusion There’s nothing like living on the open road! Life in an RV can definitely be great, but remember that transitioning to this lifestyle takes a lot of preparation and planning. While feeling comfortable, cozy, and relaxed, you get to go places and enjoy the scenery from the outside. But for you to feel all the loveliest feelings while traveling, you need to have a high-quality motorhome setup. Now you’ll ask, “What makes up a crazy motorhome interior?” The truth is there is no perfect design scheme for you to follow as everything is all up to you. However, as you mix and match and experiment in your motorhome design, you need to be founded on the basic elements of motorhome interiors. Here are the essential elements that make up trendsetting motorhome interiors. Furniture Of course, what makes your motorhome a home are the fixtures in it. Do you have suitable tables and chairs for your motorhome? The right furniture for your motorhomes is the one that best complements your interior and your family’s needs! Upholstery If you want to have an inviting motorhome, intently consider the upholstery. Do the lazy couches invite you to sit or even lay down when you see them? If not, maybe your vehicle is quite old, and your seats are worn out already. If they are old, don’t dispose of them just yet. You simply need reupholstery services to make it look and feel good as new. For this, you need to look for motorhome reupholstering in Arizona or anywhere near you. After having your seats reupholstered, you can find them refreshing to look at and inviting to lie on. Go for a total seat makeover, including the driver’s seat. You don’t really need a grand design; a slight change from here and there like cushion and zip replacements will do the trick. Blinds and Curtains You know how blinds and curtains add appeal to your home interior. This is no different in your motorhome. By choosing the right colors and design according to your motorhome theme, you can have a warmer feeling while in transit. Gone are the days when you will have blinds and curtains just to cover up the daylight or give you privacy. As they come in various sizes, colors, and designs, your new blinds and curtains can help you set up the look and feel you desire. Wallpaper Your interior wallpaper should be given attention as well, as it sets the overall ambiance of your motorhome. You need to put premium care on wallpapers because they can be a delight or a perpetual eyesore. Wallpapers can be damaged due to varying temperatures. Also, they may eventually tear away or fade. Instead of traditional wallpapers, motorhome owners prefer using vinyl wallpapers because of their water-resistant quality. Doors
Doors do wonders, too! You can reinvent your door from being an old oak to becoming a glazed one. The trick lies in the paint that you will use. Some even have glass inner doors in their motorhomes. Depending on your motif and theme, you can redesign your doors all you want to make them fit your motorhome design. Conclusion A comfy motorhome provides excellent leisure and comfort during travel. When it comes to designing your motorhome interiors, you are not confined to any hard rules. As long as it does the job of making you feel at home, your motorhome interior is definitely your call. The elements of the interior serve as your guide in making changes and altering your RV. When you have a motorhome with new upholstery, any future excursion becomes even more exciting. It brings with it a revitalized sense of freedom, making every moment pleasurable. Are you looking for the finest upholstering services in Arizona? Active RV Upholstery is at your service! Owning a motorhome provides you with the perfect solution to get relief from the stresses of daily life. As you head onto the open road and visit amazing travel destinations, you can reconnect with nature and make unforgettable memories with your loved ones. Another benefit of traveling in a motorhome is you don’t have to worry about securing accommodation since your bed is just in the back of your vehicle. However, the more you explore different places, the more your RV’s parts like upholstery will wear out. This damage can affect your comfort and overall driving experience. To prevent nuisances from turning into accidents, it’s important to invest in motorhome upholstery services. Here are four reasons you should invest in motorhome upholstery:
Over time, your motorhome’s upholstery may get stains, rips, or general wear and tear, causing changes to the material. Besides causing discomfort every time you sit on them, you will probably find these damaged coverings unappealing to look at. Thankfully, you can easily breathe new life into the look and feel of your vehicle by getting brand new cushion covers or seeking RV upholstery. You can restore them to their original condition or opt for a different visual direction.
While you have the opportunity to relax by sitting by a campfire or gazing at the stars during your trip, it can be difficult to completely unwind when your seats are all worn out. Some of the best times you will ever have can be experienced with your vehicle. But to achieve that, your motorhome has to be in tip-top condition. Whether you are staying in the driver’s seat or sitting area, you can be more comfortable when you have cozy upholstered cushions to rest on.
A leisure vehicle is durable, but it’s bound to get old after years of use. If the seats show noticeable signs of wear and tear, consider giving them an upgrade through upholstery services. It can give your motorhome’s outdated interiors a touch of modern and renewed elegance. Whether you want the comfort offered by cotton or the classy appeal of leather, you have the freedom to customize your RV’s seats. Since there is a wide range of materials and fabrics available, choose one that suits your preferences and your motorhome’s other interior elements.
It’s easy to miss regular cleaning sessions when you’re having fun outdoors. After all, no one probably thinks of tidying up their leisure vehicle in the middle of a getaway. So if you are guilty of being overdue with cleaning your motorhome, you are not alone. Your vacation can't last forever, even if you’re always on the go. This is why you need to set a time to clean your motor vehicle thoroughly.. With a spick-and-span vehicle and brand-new cushions and covers, you will likely have a more enjoyable and comfortable road trip experience. Conclusion Most motorhomes’ seats are designed to last long, but there’s only so much wear and tear that they can withstand. Because of this, they are expected to have all sorts of damage over time. To ensure you and your friends or family will be able to sit and rest comfortably despite being out on the open road, take the time to seek only the best upholstering services. We also make Carpet Dash covers that perfectly match a wide range of motorhome dashes. These custom made covers protect your dashboard from the harsh rays of the sun and reduce the amount of light and heat reflected from the dashboard, making it a great option for those who spend time in a camper. Dashboard covers not only help to look good, but also help insulate your vehicle or motorhome while keeping it as safe as possible from sun and other harmful rays. Choosing the right product simply means that the product you choose is compatible with the years, brands and models you own. With a little care, you will find the perfect dashboard cover for your vehicle or motorhome. Carpet covers are often pre-cut and binded, so you don't have to make any adjustments during installation. Since the dashboard cover is tailored to your vehicle, it should be easy to install. You just have to make sure you find the right dashboards that fit the vehicle without guessing. Most RV Windshield Privacy Shades Parasols and privacy screens for campers and RV's keep 80% to 90% of the sun out and give you and your family some privacy. The alternative reflective bubble wrap insulation makes your motorhome significantly cooler inside without the air conditioning running, but it is not an appealing sight. It's a good idea when it's being stored although not so much when you are traveling in it. The sunlight that comes through the windows can significantly reduce the interior temperatures by 10 degrees or more. You should combine a windscreen screen with a side window screen and block off enough sunlight to protect the dashboard, steering wheel, and seats and keep upholstery and consoles in good condition for longer. Maximum sun, UV, and heat protection can keep your interior cool by protecting your camper interior from 93% UV radiation and keeping the heat inside. Windscreen covers protect the interior from the damage caused by UV rays by keeping it out of the interior of your RV and from any damage they cause. For years the primary type of RV windshield cover is a windscreen protector that wraps around the outside of the RV windshield, including a separate piece for the driver and passenger side windows. By using this cover on the windscreen and windows, you can significantly reduce the harmful UV rays from the sun, which in turn helps cool the interior, while providing great views for those with privacy. In addition, windshield covers such as ADCO protect the interior of your RV dashboards from UV radiation. But it can be a hassle having to pull out a ladder an install and uninstall them every time you stop somewhere. Each year, there are more than 164,000 emergency room-treated injuries and 300 deaths in the U.S. that are caused by falls from ladders. The very expensive $599 Magne Shade is the only exterior windshield cover that you don't need a latter to install it and $599 is only for the front windshield cover although it includes the wiper screen in your wipers at no extra charge it does not include the $195 for each side window. If you are looking for a high-quality effective parasol that helps reflect heat and UV rays while providing you with more privacy inside, RV quick shades is an option that might be worth exploring. You not going to find this on eBay and other online stores like Amazon, and although you can purchase each piece individually, you can get the best price by purchasing a package deal with a variety of different types of interior windshield covers kits and color options for your RV camper. Here are the best options: Partial Package Deal $ 149.95 1 Windshield Interior Privacy Shade - 2 Wiper Blade Covers - 2 Mirror Covers Partial Package Deal (Interior Only) $ 199.95 1 Windshield Privacy Shade - 2 Window Privacy Shades Full Package Deal $ 249.95 1 Interior Windshield Privacy Shade - 2 Window Privacy Shades - 2 Wiper Blade Covers - 2 Mirror Covers The first thing you need to remember when buying an RV quick shade interior windshield cover is that it won't be an exact fit to your windshield or windows of your RV. Each shade will include instructions on how to trim it to size and install them. After reading this, I hope you can decide which is the best windshield screen cover for you and hope this has been helpful in deciding what is best for your motorhome windscreen. We do everything we can to the inside of our RV to make it our home. We travel in comfort and have the luxury of home anywhere we park. While sitting on our couch or table area, there is only one stark difference and that is the front windshield. Although we may be used to large picture windows in our permanent home, we may not always want the view while in our traveling home. It would be easy to draw the drapes in our home if we want privacy or want to keep the sun out, however there are other things to consider when in your RV home. I know of four options available for the RV front windshield and each will do the job it was made for with some exceptions. When deciding on front windshield coverings, there are few things you should consider. Depending on your needs and priorities, you will probably decide on one of the four options below. The things to consider are ease of installation, frequency of use, Security and Privacy, and overall functionality. The first option is the outside mounted windshield cover. This cover helps protect the inside form UV rays as well as helping to provide privacy. You will feel a sense of privacy from people not being able to look in, however you lose your sense of security by not being able to see out. The drawback to this is, they are hard to install and there may be times when you just need a quick shield for a short length of time. Most people would not want to take out a ladder to install this shield for only a short time. The second option is the customary window curtains. These are very easy to pull across the front windshield. They help block the sun and they provide privacy. They can enhance the inside look of your RV and be custom made. Although, they provide privacy, they do not provide security because you are not able to see out from the inside and there may be reasons you would want the ability to see out. They are extremely easy to use and once installed, there is nothing more for you to do except dray them open or closed as needed. The type of fabric and/or lining you chose could determine the amount of sun that is let into your RV. The third option is the roll up type sun shields. These are somewhat easy to install, however they could become cumbersome. They are extremely good for keeping out the UV rays and for privacy of people looking in, however you would have no visibility looking out. If they are not custom fit, you might also have a problem with them staying in place. The fourth option, which is my personal favorite, is the RV Quick Shade. This shade has it all. It is a quick and easy inside installation so it can be installed at anytime and very fast and easy. No ladders or tools required. Installs with special suction cup installation. This shield protects the interior of your RV, and helps in reducing the inside temperature. The unique material of this shield will withstand the sun's rays for years and it carries a 10 year warranty. Many people like the inside curtains to match their RV, this shield comes in a variety of colors that will compliment any RV from the inside or the outside. One of the biggest features is the way it provides privacy while still allowing you to see out. Everyone has different needs and priorities, Thank you for taking the time to read my article, I hope this helps you to prioritize and gives you options to think about.
We are in a very unusual time with the Covid-19 pandemic. Our way of thinking and re-acting seemed to change overnight. It almost felt like we had no warnings that our lives were going to be changed. We have seen death and suffering. We have seen the desperation in everyday things. We can no longer take for granted the simple things such as buying toilet paper. With all the uncertainty, we might be wondering what we can do to help. First and foremost, of course, we need to help family and friends. After, our family and friends are safe. We can help our community and economy as a whole. The easiest and most effective way is to buy local. With the changes in social distancing and stay-at-home orders, we have become accustomed to shopping online. For some of us, this is something totally new. A new way of thinking so now there are a few things to think about. It is easy to shop local when we can travel and have the liberty to drive around; the challenge is a little bit more when we are shopping from our home We all know the big box retailers and re-sellers, and they are very easy to buy from. However, there are also a few re-sellers that cater to local and small businesses such as Etsy and eBay. Buying from these two sites is a great way to help support small businesses in the US. Many local and US small businesses are turning to these sites because they cannot compete with the big business on other sites. We saw this same trend with big-box retailers moving into neighborhoods and causing the smaller stores to go out-of-business. Buying locally and from American based companies will help in many ways. This could help our economy as well as our community. There is much discussion on “opening” our states to boost the economy. Our communities are hurting due to many businesses being shut down and many people out of work. If we each do our little part by buying locally, we can contribute in a positive way to both issues. If we are not able to actually go to the local store down the street, we can still help our country by buying from sites that promote local business. Not only will this help our immediate communities, but it will also help our nation as a whole. We are all in this together so let’s stay together and help each other in the little ways we can.
It started with a thought. I never knew how easy it would be changing the whole look of my RV. My wike and I have enjoyed countless trips in our motor home. Unfortunately, over time, the wear and tear on all of the seats had become very noticeable. Not only where my front captain’s chairs were worn, my dinette and sofa had also seen better days. As with any home, there comes a time when you need to make the decision about upgrades to existing furniture verses replacements. I had to take several things into account including cost and comfort. The front captain’s chairs were probably the most worn with the seat cushions, armrests and backrests all worn with cracks and tears. Of course, I wanted everything to match and therefore, this could be a huge job. To my surprise, everything went very smoothly. What started off as a daunting project, proved to be extremely easy and timely. I contacted Active RV Upholstery and requested an estimate to have all pieces re-upholstered on 1/7/20. I chose the fabric and colors I wanted and received the estimate back the very same day. I decided to go with a Chestnut color with Buckskin inserts. I imagined my choice was going to change the whole look of my RV since my original color was vanilla. I was very excited about my decisions and approved the estimate, received the invoice, and put down my 50% deposit on 1/9/20. I explained to Daniel at Active Upholstery, that I had a deadline and although my deadline seemed to be a bit aggressive, the project was completed on 1/21/20. From my first contact with them to finish was a total of 14 days. It is amazing that I have new upholstered captain chairs, dinette, and loveseat in such a short amount of time and better yet, they look amazing. The color scheme with the offset color inserts brings a certain type of luster to the overall décor. I couldn’t be happier and I would refer anyone to them! If any of you RVers out there are interested in upgrading to a new RV, I would suggest saving your money and do complete makeover instead. They made it so easy for us. Here is the link to where we started the process.
