A Brief History of Upholstery and What It Is Today

Read Now

Picture
Upholstery simply means the act of building a piece of furniture from scratch or turning a
used piece of furniture into an original or customized state. Either way, this process is done by a furniture builder, appropriately known as the upholsterer. These specialists can do a variety of things, from adding more stuffing, replacing the fabric, repairing the wood, and doing other things to give a piece of furniture a full refurbishment. However, did you know that upholstery isn't actually anything new? It has been done for thousands of years!
Today, let's delve down into the history of upholstery, talking about its origins, what it is like today, and how you can protect your upholstery:

A Brief History of Upholstery

Upholstery is one of the oldest forms of furniture making, dating back to the Egyptian era. In those days, furniture was often made of wood or stone and was not padded or upholstered. The first upholstered furniture was probably found in the tombs of the wealthy, who were able to afford the luxury of having their furniture padded and upholstered. In the 1800s, upholstery became more elaborate with the introduction of tufting, embroidery, and other embellishments. Today, upholstery is used to refer to both the process of furniture making as well as the finished product.

What Is Modern Upholstery Like?

Modern upholstery is a far cry from the traditional style that many of us are used to. Gone
are the days of heavy, bulky furniture that is difficult to move and maintain. Instead, modern upholstery is all about light, airy designs that are easy to clean and care for.
Many modern upholstery pieces are made from synthetic materials that are resistant to
staining and easy to clean. This is a major advantage over traditional upholstery fabrics,
which can be difficult to clean and often require professional cleaning services. In addition to being easy to care for, modern upholstery is also very stylish. You'll find a wide variety of designs and colors to choose from, so you can easily find pieces that fit your personal taste.

How Do I Care for My Upholstery?

Your upholstery is one of the most important parts of your home, and it deserves to be cared for properly. Here are some tips on how to care for your upholstery:

1. Vacuum Regularly
This will help to remove any dirt and dust that has accumulated on your upholstery.

2. Spot Clean When Necessary

If there are any spills or stains on your upholstery, be sure to clean them up as soon as
possible.

3. Protect Your Upholstery From the Sun

The sun can damage your upholstery over time, so be sure to keep it out of direct sunlight.

4. Get It Professionally Cleaned
One of the most important things to do to maintain your upholstery is to have them
professionally cleaned every few years. Why? This will help to keep it looking its best.
By following these tips, you can help to keep your upholstery looking its best for years to
come.

Conclusion

Upholstery is indeed a great thing. With it, we can turn old furniture that would have been thrown out into something new and beautiful! And thanks to their versatility, upholstery can be used in so many ways, from automobiles to airplanes and even RVs. That being said, if you have a piece of oHomeld furniture that needs extra love, get it upholstered today! Picture
If you've been hesitant to try RV camping, a Class C RV might be the perfect option for you. These RVs are larger than Class B RVs but not as massive as Class A RVs, making them a good compromise for many campers. Class C RVs are also popular because they offer many of the same features as larger RVs, complete with RV furniture, but at a more affordable price.

What Exactly Is a Class C RV?

Class C RVs offer the space of a Class A RV with the easy maneuverability of a Class B RV.
They are usually recognizable by their truck-like cab and the bed over it. Class C RVs offer
enough space for families and fit into most campsites. You'll find Class C RVs with either gas or diesel engines these days. They're built on a truck chassis and typically sit lower than a big Class A. Of course, that means there is no basement in this RV. That said, manufacturers have found fun and unique ways to provide storage. For instance, they've built beds that lift and interior water tanks. Some newer units conceal closets under the sleeping quarters.

What Are the Features of a Class C RV?

RVs are a great way to travel and see the country. They are also a great way to save money on travel expenses. Class C RVs are the most popular type of RV, and for a good reason. They offer several benefits that make them an excellent choice for travelers.

spaces. This makes them an excellent choice for those not used to driving large vehicles.

2. Class C RVs are more fuel-efficient than larger RVs. This is because they are smaller and
lighter. This means that you will save money on fuel costs when you travel.

3. Class C RVs offer more storage space than smaller RVs. These models have more
cabinets and storage areas. This means that you will have more room to store your belongings while you travel.

4. Class C RVs have more sleeping space. They naturally feel more spacious than smaller
RVs due mainly to the fact that they have larger beds and more sleeping areas. This means that
you can comfortably sleep more people in your RV.

5. Class C RVs offer more privacy. Thanks to its thick walls and privacy curtains, you will be able to have more privacy when you travel.

Trip and Track: Going on an RV Trip with Just One Tank of Gas

It may not seem doable at first, but if you are looking to travel on a single tank of gas in your RV, you can do a few things to make the most of your journey. Still not convinced? You may plan ahead with our simple guide below.

1. Choose a Theme

When planning a trip, consider what you would like to do and the nearby destinations.
Narrowing your options by theme will help you find a trip that meets your interests.
You can use Google Maps to help you find places related to what you're interested in. For
example, if you're looking for camping spots, you can type camping spots near me into the search bar. This will show you a map of the area and any camping destinations nearby.
The map feature on Google Maps can be helpful during your planning stage. You can zoom in to get a more detailed view of the area and see what else is going on around you. You can learn a lot about a place by reading other people's reviews, and you might even find some hidden gems that you didn't know about before.
Picture

2. Get in Touch with Nature

The United States is a great place to travel because there is so much protected land. There are over 6,600 state parks in the US, covering 14 million acres of land. This means that no matter where you are in the country, you can find a state park to explore. Each one of them is unique, so you could spend a lifetime discovering all the different parks in the US.

3. Plan Your Snacks and Meals Early On

To save money on a one-tank trip, it is advisable to bring your own food and snacks so that you do not have to veer off your route to buy them. Plan your meals in advance, and make sure to pack your favorite foods. This way, you can enjoy your trip without having to worry about spending too much.

4. Pack Accordingly

You will definitely need some essential items on your trips, such as a first-aid kit, a flashlight, a map, and a fire extinguisher. These items will come in handy if you encounter any problems while on the road. As mentioned before, it is also a good idea to pack some snacks and drinks so that you will not have to stop for food every few hours.

5. Have a Budget in Mind

When planning your one-tank trip, it is important to have a budget in mind so that you do not overspend. Decide how much money you are willing to spend on gas, food, and lodging ahead of time so you may stick to your budget. This will help you save money and enjoy your trip without panicking over the cost afterward.

6. Plan Your Route in Advance

Once you have chosen your destination, it is time to start planning your route. You will want to map out the best way to get there to avoid any traffic or construction delays. Additionally, plan for rest stops along the way so you can take breaks as needed.
Picture
Conclusion

Overall, being prepared for an RV trip with just one tank of gas can be a great experience. You need to make sure you know how much gas your RV uses per hour and plan your route accordingly. It is also crucial to have a backup plan in case you run out of gas.

Picture
How we accessorize our RV can significantly impact how enjoyable our camping trips are. By selecting the right RV accessories, we can ensure that our trips are more comfortable,
convenient, and fun.

The Robertson family is known for their love of the outdoors, so it is no surprise that they would go camping in one of their Duck Dynasty episodes. What is surprising, however, is how well-equipped their RV is!
While most families would be content with a few basics like a bed and a small kitchen, the
Robertsons have everything they need to make their camping trip comfortable and enjoyable. They have a full-size fridge, a stove, and even a television! With that said, how should you furnish your RV? Or better yet, how do you replace RV furniture?

Is It Difficult to Replace RV Furniture?

In the past, RV furniture can be one of the hardest things to replace. As anyone who has
shopped for furniture knows, endless options are available. It is especially true when it comes to furniture for RVs and campers.
Only a handful of businesses made RV furniture in the past, but today there are dozens. This increase in competition has resulted in better quality furniture and lower prices. If you are in the market for new furniture for your RV or camper, you will be pleased to know that more options are available than ever. You can find furniture to fit any style or budget and have it custom-made if you wish.

The best way to shop for new furniture is to decide what style you are looking for. Do you want something traditional or modern? Do you want neutral colors or add a pop of color? Once you know what style you want, you can start shopping around.
Picture
Do Not Forget to Replace the Mattress!

Please remember that your RV is your home, so it stands to reason that you want it to be
comfortable. A brilliant way to do this is to upgrade your RV mattress. There are a few things to remember when shopping for a new RV mattress. First, you must
know the size of your RV's bed. RV mattresses come in all standard bed sizes, from twin to
king. Next, you must determine what type of mattress you want. There are several different types of RV mattresses, including memory foam, latex, and innerspring. Finally, you must establish your budget. RV mattresses range in price from a few hundred dollars to a few thousand dollars.

Establishing a Plan on How to Replace Your Furniture

When it comes to replacing your RV furniture, the options can be overwhelming. But, with some planning, you can easily find the right furniture for your needs. Here are four guidelines to help you get started:

1. Define your needs.
2. Set a budget.
3. Consider your style.
4. Shop around.

Having these four tips in mind will help you determine whether any accessory or furniture is worth the buy.

Conclusion

The most important thing to account for is that comfort is critical. You want to be able to relax and enjoy your time on the road, so make sure to take the time to find furniture that you love. Before your next road trip, you should check what Active RV Upholstery has in store for you. We have quality RV furniture so that you will have value for your buck. How to Make the Most Out of Your RV Space- 5 Tips to Follow

Picture
When it comes to RV living, one of the most important things to consider is how to maximize the space in your RV. After all, space is limited, and you want to be able to enjoy all the comforts of home while on the road. Luckily, you can use a few simple tips and tricks to make the most of the space in your RV. Here are some of them:

Tip 1: Choose Foldable Furniture

Fold-out furniture is excellent for small spaces because it can be easily stored when not in use. Some popular fold-out furniture pieces for RVs include fold-out beds, couches, and tables. Fold-out beds are a great option if you need extra sleeping space for guests. They can be easily stored away during the day, freeing up space in your RV. Couches and chairs that fold out into beds are also great for small spaces. They offer extra seating during the day and can be transformed into a bed at night. Fold-out tables are a great way to add extra dining or workspace to your RV. They can be stored away when not in use, freeing up valuable floor space. Investing in customized furniture will also ensure that you’re maximizing your space.

Tip 2: Add a Pull-Out Counter to Your RV Kitchen

If you have a small RV, you probably don't have a lot of counter space in your kitchen. By
adding a pull-out counter, you can create an additional workspace. This is especially helpful when you're cooking or preparing food. It can also be used as a coffee station or bar area. When not in use, they can be tucked away to save space.
Picture

Tip 3: Make Sure to Have a Place for Everything

A clean RV is a happy RV. Make sure to keep your living space tidy and free of clutter. It will not only make it more pleasant to live in, but it will also help you find things when you need them. When you're packing for your RV trip, take the time to be organized. Pack items in order of importance, and label everything, so you know where it goes. That will save you time and hassle in the long run. Storage containers are a great way to keep your RV organized. They come in all shapes and sizes, so you can find ones that fit your needs. Use them to store clothes, dishes, food, and anything else you need to keep tidy.

Tip 4: Utilize Your Wall Space

Make sure to maximize your wall space. There are a few different ways to do this. One method is to use wall hooks to hang things like coats, towels, or bags. Doing so frees up floor space and makes it easy to grab what you need without searching through a pile of stuff. Another way to use your walls is to install shelves. It is excellent for storing food, dishes, or other items you want to keep organized and off the floor. You can also use shelves to display things like pictures or mementos from your travels.

Tip 5: Use Camping Cookware

You can opt to get rid of your big pots and pans. Instead, invest in a smaller set of camping pots and pans. They'll take up less space, are easy to clean, and you'll still be able to cook all your favorite meals.
Picture

Conclusion

There are many ways that you can maximize the space in your RV. Some methods include
using furniture that can double as storage, using under-bed storage, utilizing the space behind doors, and following the tips above. By doing so, you can make the most of the limited space in your RV. Should you need reupholstery or custom made items, we can help. All the Important Questions You Need to Ask Before Buying an RV

Read Now

Picture
If you're considering purchasing an RV, you should keep a few things in mind. Here are the top questions first-time RV buyers should ask themselves:
Should I Buy Used or New?

If you're considering purchasing an RV, the first question is whether you should buy used or new. The answer to this question is going to be different for everyone. It depends on your budget, the type of RV you're looking for, and how often you plan to use it.
If you're looking for a specific type of RV or want the newest model, you'll probably want to buy new. However, if you're working with a limited budget or not picky about the model of RV, buying used can be a great option.
If you decide to buy used, make sure you have the RV inspected by a qualified technician
before making your purchase. This will help ensure that you're not buying a lemon.

How Much Space Do I Need?

How much space you need in an RV will really depend on how you want to use the RV and how many people you want to travel with. If you're planning on traveling with a large group of people, then you'll need a larger RV. But, if you're traveling alone or with a few people, you can get away with a smaller RV.
Picture
Here's a quick breakdown of some of the most popular RV types and how many people they can accommodate:

• Fifth Wheel - Fifth wheels are some of the largest RVs on the market and can accommodate
up to 10 people.

• Travel Trailer - Travel trailers can accommodate up to 8 people.

• Toy Hauler - Toy haulers are unique RVs that have plenty of space for your recreational
vehicles, such as dirt bikes. They can accommodate 6 people.

• Class A Motorhome - Class A motorhomes are the largest RVs on the market and can
accommodate up to 10 people.

• Class B Motorhome - Class B motorhomes are smaller RVs that are based on van chassis.
They can accommodate up to 4 people.

• Class C Motorhome - Class C motorhomes are the most popular type of RV on the market today. They can accommodate up to 8 people.

Do I Need a Special License to Drive an RV?

The answer to this question really depends on the size of the RV that you're driving. If you're driving a smaller RV, such as a Class B or Class C motorhome, then you probably won't need a special license to drive an RV. However, if you're driving a larger RV, such as a Class A motorhome, then you will likely need a special license to drive an RV.
Picture
How Do You Want To Travel?

RVing allows you to travel to many places, both near and far. You can set up your RV in an RV park and enjoy its amenities, or you can find a secluded campground where you can enjoy the peace and quiet. Many options are available to you, depending on what you are looking for.

To Slide-Out Or Not To Slide-Out?

Slide-outs are a great way to increase the space inside your RV. They work by having walls that can slide out, giving you more room once you're parked. This is especially useful if you want to move around easily while still having a lot of space.
In simple terms, an RV with a slide-out is great for those who intend to stay in one place for a while, while an RV without a slide-out is better for those who travel frequently.

To Sum Up

There are many questions that first-time RV buyers should ask before purchasing an RV. These questions can help you determine what type of RV is best for you, what features you need, and how much you can afford to spend. By asking the right questions, you can ensure that you find the perfect RV for your needs and budget. Beautify your motorhome with custom RV furniture or reupholstery the existing furniture. RV Interiors_ Proper Care and Maintenance Tips to Check Out

Read Now

Picture
RVs are becoming increasingly popular as people look for ways to explore the great
outdoors while still enjoying the comforts of home. However, many individuals are uncertain how to properly maintain an RV's interior. To keep your motorhome in top shape, create a routine maintenance schedule. Keeping up with cleaning and maintenance is the best way to prevent your RV from experiencing additional wear and tear. Keep reading to learn all you need to know about keeping your RV looking great!

Why It's Important to Keep Your RV's Interior Clean

Ensuring the interior of your RV or motorhome looks good and is comfortable to travel in is only one aspect of interior maintenance. It's a critical step in aiding with minimizing wear and tear, which may negatively impact the value of your RV when you decide to sell it. Since a motorhome is a big investment, it's critical to take the time to protect your
possessions while also taking pleasure in your travels in a pristine RV.

How to Maintain the Interior of an RV

It doesn't have to take hours to clean, arrange, and prepare your RV on the road. Once
you've got a routine down, you'll get things done fast, especially if you can get some help.
The following will teach you all you need to know about maintaining your RV's interior:

Carpets

Vacuum your carpet often to eliminate debris, dust, and coarse grit. Water-based spills and stains need to be cleaned with a damp cloth immediately. You should use a trustworthy professional cleaner made specifically to spot clean grease or oil-based stains and spots.
Picture

Ceiling and Walls

Regularly clean the walls and ceiling with warm water and mild detergent. To avoid damage, wipe the ceiling down gently. Avoid using strong cleansers, bleach, or excessive water in your RV since doing so might cause expensive, long-lasting damage. Flooring and Vinyl Motorhome floors are susceptible to becoming dirty because of their compact size and the frequent entry and exit of persons within. Maintaining your RV's cleanliness requires routine sweeping or cleaning the flooring. Have a brush and dustpan available at the front entry so that your fellow travelers may sweep any additional sand or grass off their feet.

Glass and Mirrors

A glass cleaner may help keep the windows and mirrors in your RV looking beautiful by regularly cleaning them. Use a squeegee after washing with water to reduce spotting on
the outside glass. For difficult stains, cleaning with a vinegar and water solution is suggested. This method is good for most finishes.

Textiles and RV Furniture

The upholstery materials in your RV shouldn't be washed. Use upholstery or mild solvent to remove stains swiftly, depending on the stain. Make sure never to saturate the cloth in water, and use as little as possible. To protect the cloth, blot rather than rub. Use a towel to dry. Upholstery may be routinely vacuumed using a soft brush attachment.

Sinks, Bathtubs, and Toilets

The finish on the various lightweight acrylic, plastic, and composite surfaces and objects
used in RV and motorhome bathrooms should be preserved using non-abrasive cleaners.
Because they will slowly and completely erode and ruin these materials.
Picture

Conclusion

Proper care of the interior of your RV is vital to maintaining its beauty and functionality. You may extend the life of your RV and use it for many years by routinely organizing and
cleaning it. Additionally, regular maintenance of your RV's appliances and systems will help to avoid costly repairs down the road. You can maintain your custom RV furniture in excellent condition for many years of enjoyment by using the suggestions above.

Active RV Upholstery - What to Know When Updating Your RV's Window Treatments

What to Know When Updating Your RVs Window Treatments

RV renovation is a challenging but rewarding process that can bring your RV up to date, make it more comfortable, and add convenience and safety to your lifestyle. The list of possible projects is long and includes things like painting, putting in new floors, replacing light fixtures, and much more and people often don't know where to start. In addition, changing the window curtains in your RV is a simple task that significantly affects
how the space looks and feels. Around the windows of most RVs are valances, which are often made of loud fabrics and may be out of date. Follow the steps below to learn how to put new window treatments in your RV.

Preparation

Before starting the project, you should clean the inside of the RV. Remove all the old curtains and window treatments. Also, make sure you have all the tools necessary to complete the project. Then, start by measuring the window you intend to change to see how much fabric you need. Besides that, plan what colors you are going to choose. Know the colors you want before you start to gather material. Moreover, you need to find a pattern you like and have the fabric cut. You will also need to have the sewing machine and notions available, ready to start the project.

Choose the fabric
you want to use.

In most RVs, some curtains are too tight, covering the window too much. That’s why you should consider using wider curtains to make them lighter and let the light in. Using plain fabric or sheer curtains, you can also block out the light from the side windows.
Picture
Window Valances Should Be Recovered

A valance is a panel that hangs from the sides of a window. It adds a decorative touch to the RV. It may have been made with linen or fabric that is not as bright and vibrant as intended. If it is faded, torn, or has holes, it doesn't have to stay that way. You can add a new valance and have it go right with your new curtain fabrics.
The fabric can be purchased in many colors and styles and is the same as the valance. If it was initially made of linen or rayon, you might have trouble finding the same type of fabric.

Set up Blinds or Shades

When choosing the curtains for your RV, it's a good idea to choose blinds or shades that will let light in from the sides. It's a good idea to take the measurements you've made and have them cut to length at the store. Also, you can have your curtains hemmed or have them custom-made. To block out the sun and bright light while keeping the RV cool, install motor-home window shades or motor-home blinds. Single-paned window shades also block out sunlight without covering the whole window.

Conclusion

RV owners can improve the appearance of their RV by adding new window treatments. The process can be simple and easy, as long as you have the tools and knowledge.
Finally, let them hang on the sides of the RV and have a look. They can be exchanged in the store if they are not the right ones. Active RV Upholstery is one of Southwest's finest upholstery shops, specializing in custom RV furniture, re-upholstery, Roller shades and RV Valances . Contact us today!

A Guide on How to Clean Sheepskin Seat Covers

Sheepskin seat covers are a great choice for your car. They are hypoallergenic, warm in winter and cool in summer, and protect your seats from wear. They are soft, comfortable to sit on, and can be cleaned easily. Here is a step-by-step guide for keeping them clean:

Step 1: Prep Your Seat Cover

Before applying soap or detangling shampoo to your sheepskin, soak a washcloth or sponge in warm water. Wring it out so that it is damp but not dripping, then scrub at your sheepskin. You'll need to focus on the soiled areas the most, but don't forget the rest of your head, either. Also, ensure you're not using water that is too hot because hot water can damage sheepskin. Once you've scrubbed your sheepkin several times, you are ready to move on to the next step. A light vacuuming can precede this step.

Step 2: Apply Your Soap or Shampoo

After you've soaked your sheepskin seat cover in warm water, it's time to use a gentle soap or detangling shampoo. Start by squirting several drops of the soap or shampoo onto a washcloth. Rub the soap or shampoo into the washcloth until it covers the cloth evenly. Then, wipe the seat cover with the washcloth using firm, steady strokes from top to bottom. Repeat this step several times, carefully wring the washcloth between each soap or shampoo application. This will keep your sheepskin clean and soft.

Step 3: Remove Your Soap or Shampoo

Once you have applied your soap or shampoo to your sheepskin seat cover, you'll need to wipe
the cover dry with a damp sponge. Start from the top and wipe down your seat cover until all the soap or shampoo has been removed. This will require you to wipe the entire seat multiple times, so keep the sponge or washcloth damp with water after every wipe. Wring out the sponge or washcloth, and continue wiping each section of the seat cover until it is completely dry.

Step 4: Brush Your Seat Cover

Now that your soap or shampoo has been removed, you're almost finished. You will now need to brush the seat cover with a bristle brush. Dogs typically use these brushes, so they are best suited to handle the task. Brush the seat cover starting at the top and brush down towards the bottom. Use care to make sure you remove any tangles or bits of soap that may have initially escaped your gaze.

Step 5: Dry Your Seat Cover

Your sheepskin car seat cover went through a thorough cleaning, but it must be hung indoors for at least three to four hours to dry. Excessive heat and sunlight are not good for the leather.

You can use a standard coat hanger to hang your seat cover, a wooden dowel, or even a bobby pin if you're in a pinch. You may want to hang a piece of clean fabric behind the seat to catch any additional moisture as it is drying.

Conclusion

You should now have a clean and fluffy sheepskin seat cover for your car. Sheepskin can be expensive and can be worn easily, so it's best to be sure you are taking good care of it. These simple steps will help you keep your seat clean and soft for years.
